FOREST CITY – The Waldorf College cheerleading team added hometown talent with Brinna Rollefson joining the incoming recruiting class.
Rollefson, a 2013 Forest City High School (FCHS) graduate, signed with the Warriors on Friday.
"Brinna will play a multifaceted role for the squad next year as an experienced flyer and base," Waldorf coach Dyanna Quisling said. "FCHS has provided Waldorf with cheerleaders that have strong motions and solid stunting skills."
A three-year varsity member of Forest City's cheer squad, Rollefson was a letter winner during her final two seasons. She served as a base and flyer for the Indians, who participated in the 2012 state cheer competition.
Rollefson is the daughter of Steve and Lori Rollefson. She currently attends the University of Northern Iowa, but will transfer to Waldorf as a junior next fall.
Rollefson said the thought of attending Waldorf has always crossed her mind. She plans to study elementary and early childhood education as she returns to her hometown to continue her academic and athletic endeavors.
"I love the fact that it is close to home, so I will have my family right there," Rollefson said. "My sister also went to Waldorf and cheered. She always tells me what a great experience it was."
Rollefson's sister, Michelle Dummet, is a Waldorf graduate and a former Warrior cheerleader.
The third cheerleader from Forest City to join the Warriors, Rollefson will be reunited with former teammates Kiya Meinecke and Tyra Brown. Meinecke is currently a freshman and Brown will transfer to Waldorf as a sophomore in the fall.
"She will join former squad members Kiya Meinecke and Tyra Brown, which will be a tremendous asset for us to have," Quisling said. "I look forward to having Brinna on the squad and anticipate an easy transition for her."
Rollefson, the 12th member of Waldorf's 2015-16 recruiting class, is excited to return to Forest City with the opportunity to continue her athletic career.
"It means so much to me to be able to continue to cheer in college," Rollefson said. "Cheerleading has always been a part of my life. I can't wait to start my journey at Waldorf in the fall."
