The Waldorf softball team traveled to the Rochester Dome to take on Cardinal Stritch University in a double-header for their first games of the 2012 season.  In the first game the Warriors collected 10 hits.  Holly Gilbertson (JR-Forest City, IA) went 3-3 and Macey Hickes (SR-Winnipeg, MB) went 2-2 including a home run.  Gilbertson also went the distance from the mound, as she struck out six and allowed just four hits to gain the victory.  The Warriors maintained a tight defense in the error-free outing.  Waldorf took the victory 3-1.

In the second game the Warriors had no shortage of offense, collecting 13 hits.  Hickes blasted a three-run home run in the 1st inning.  Katie Bredlow (SR-Altoona, IA) added a solo home run in the 4th inning.  Courtney Palmer (FR-Rochester, MN) also belted a solo home run in the 7th.  Hickes, Palmer, Gilbertson, Kirstin Davis (SO-Runnells, IA), and Kathryn Nieman (SO-Clear Lake, IA) would all have two hits in the game.

Marisa Donnelly (FR-Naperville, IL) would earn the win in relief of Lauren Camp (SO-Savoy, TX).  She completed the final 4 and 2/3rds innings, striking out six.  Defensively, the Warriors only had one error that occurred on a dropped third strike.  The Warriors earned the win 11-2.

The Warriors return to the Rochester Dome Sunday for another double-header with Cardinal Stritch University.  Games will start at 11:30AM.
