
Game 1
Iowa Wesleyan 7, Waldorf 1
Iowa Wesleyan jumped out to a 5-0 lead entering the fourth inning. Waldorf's lone run in the game would come in the top of the fourth. Spenser Popinga (SR-Hart Land, WI) sparked the Warriors with a lead-off double. Jake Bews (JR-Loomis, CA) followed with a single to move Popinga to third. Lance McFeely (JR-San Diego, CA) grounded into a double-play, but it allowed Popinga to score.
Shaun McGuire (SR-Bancroft, IA) went six innings from the mound allowing 8 hits and striking out 6 in the loss.
Game 2
Iowa Wesleyan 7, Waldorf 5
The Warriors showed their resilience with the start of the second game. Tevin Padgett (SO-Pensacola, FL) led-off the game with a solo shot to right field. The Tigers responded in the bottom half of the inning and after one inning of play, Iowa Wesleyan held the 2-1 advantage.
In the top of the third, the Warriors found their rhythm. Padgett stepped to the plate and delivered another homerun to right field. Brandon Pizzo (JR-Fresno, CA) doubled through the left side. Another double from Spenser Popinga scored Pizzo from second. After three complete innings the game was knotted at 3-3.
Waldorf tacked on another run in the top of the fourth on a RBI single from Popinga. McFeely pinch-hit in the fifth inning and reached on a fielder's choice. He stole second base to get into scoring position, which paid off. Shawn Palmer (SR-Rochester, MN) drove a single to centerfield to score McFeely. The Tigers would hold the 6-5 lead after five complete innings.
The Warriors would be unable to take the lead from the Tigers in their final at-bats and would fall 7-5.
Waldorf is now 21-15 overall and 9-6 in the MCC. They will take on the Tigers again Sunday at 1:00PM.
