The Warriors traveled to Des Moines to take on Ashford University for their first game of the MCC Tournament.  Waldorf made a strong statement in the top of the first inning scoring 3 runs.  Kayla Blocker (JR-LeGrand, IA) reached on a walk and advanced to second on a single by Katie Bredlow (SR-Altoona, IA).  Macey Hickes (SR-Winnipeg, MB) reached on a fielder's choice, but Bredlow was out at second on the play.  With runners on first and third, Kirstin Davis (SO-Runnells, IA) homered to put the Warriors up 3-0.

Ashford tacked on a run in the bottom of the third inning, but Waldorf would answer in the fourth.  Holly Gilbertson (JR-Forest City, IA) delivered a solo-shot to put the Warriors up 4-1.

In the fifth, Bredlow led-off with a walk and Ashley Brinkman (FR-Manly, IA) entered to run for Bredlow.  Hickes followed with another walk.  Following a pitching change Gilbertson came through again, this time with a single to score Brinkman.  The Warriors held a 5-1 lead through five innings.

The Saints scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 5-5.  The matchup would become a battle of wills, as the game extended to twelve innings.  Ashford would win in dramatic fashion with a lead-off homerun in the bottom of the twelfth inning.

Ashford moved on to play Grand View in the second game of the afternoon, but lost 9-3.  They will now take on Waldorf at 1:30PM on Sunday in an elimination game.
