The Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2012-13 All-MCAC Basketball teams. Waldorf's women's basketball squad had three players land on the list. BreeAnn Hageman (Sr-Ossian, Iowa) has been a force in the paint all season for the Warriors and earned All-MCAC Team honors, while being named the Defensive Player of the Year. Hageman averaged a double-double of 13.76 points and 12.69 rebounds this season. Her 12.69 rebounds per game and 368 total boards, ranks first in NAIA Division II- play. Hageman is also ranked first nationally in blocks per game (4.138) and total blocks (120).
Guards, Ellie Markwardt (Jr-Pewaukee, Wis.) and Goli Tavassoli (Sr-Vacaville, Calif.) received Honorable Mention All-MCAC. Markwardt averaged 13.38 points, while ranking fifth nationally in three-point field goal percentage (0.438). Tavassoli averaged 10.66 points per game and helped anchor the Warriors' perimeter shooting, coming up with big shots all season. In the Warriors' conference matchup with Haskell University Tavassoli went for 23 points, including seven three-pointers.
The men's team had two individuals represented this year. Forward, Erik Brewer (Fr-Las Vegas, Nev.) averaged 13.89 points and 5.33 rebounds for the Warriors, which earned him a spot on the All-MCAC Team. Brewer was also selected as MCAC Freshman of the Year.
Center, Mitch Barrett-Burrell (Sr-Fullerton, Calif.) was named Honorable Mention All-MCAC. He averaged 11.54 points and 5.38 boards this season.
The Warriors open MCAC tournament play on Friday night. The women will take on Haskell University at host, College of St. Mary at 5:30PM. The men have a 5:30PM tip against #19 Bellevue University at host, York College.
