HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Waldorf College hockey team claimed a 4-2 win to even the season series with Michigan Tech University during Saturday's Northern Collegiate Hockey League (NCHL) matchup.
Brent Putney led the Warriors (4-2, 1-1) with a pair of goals.
The Wolf Pack (1-2, 1-1) owned a 1-0 lead in the first period behind Tyler Szabo's goal. He scored off assists from Austin Riipi and Joachim Wright.
Michigan Tech's Eric Keljo tied the game in the third period. Joseph Toth and Kevin Belvitch were credited with assists.
Putney put Waldorf on top for good as the senior defenseman from White Bear Lake, Minn. cashed in on the game-winning goal. Jake Taylor received the assist.
Taylor, a junior defenseman from Atlanta, Ind., scored off an assist from sophomore Lane Sanderson to lock up the victory for the Warriors.
Waldorf freshman goaltender Ronald Paulson finished with 31 saves.
The Warriors close out their weekend road trip in Sunday's 12 p.m. nonconference matchup against Ferris State University (0-2) at Marquette, Mich.
