The Spotlight Athlete of the Week is Jean Bonnin.
Bonnin scored four goals and provided an assist to record nine points while helping the Waldorf University men’s soccer team score a pair of victories last week.
On Saturday, Bonnin delivered two goals and an assist for the Warriors (3-2) as they rolled to a 20-0 win over Nebraska Christian College (0-3) at Forest City. Waldorf set a new single-match school record for goals, shattering the previous mark from last year’s 16-0 win over Grace University. The Warriors produced 48 points, topping the school record of 43 points that came in the 2016 road victory over Grace. Waldorf also finished with eight assists to tie for second in the school’s single-match record books.
In Sunday’s 4-2 home win over St. Ambrose University (0-3), Bonnin added two goals as he converted on a pair of penalty kicks.
This season, Bonnin leads the Warriors with nine points and is tied for second on the team with four goals. The senior forward from La Roche-sur-Yon, France has contributed an assist and has put six of 10 shots on goal for a .600 shots-on-goal (SOG) percentage.
Waldorf plays two matches this week. The Warriors face Dordt College (2-1) on Tuesday in a 5 p.m. matchup at Sioux Center and then host Morningside College (2-0-2) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
