Waldorf 10, York 4

 

York got on the board in the first behind a two-run homer and the Warriors waited until the third inning to begin their rally.  With the bases load, Michelle Eden recorded the first RBI with a single to left field.  Maggie Hawley singled to drive in the Warriors' second run.  The third run of the inning came as Courtney Palmer was hit by a pitch to walk in a run.

Men's Wrestling - Wed, Apr. 24, 2013

Brock Binversie continues to add to his accolades during his junior campaign with the Warrior wrestling program.  In the 2012-13 season Binversie was a NAIA national qualifier and a NAIA Scholar Athlete.  He has now been selected as a NWCA All-Academic honoree. 

This list recognizes individuals who qualified for the national tournament and maintain at least a 3.25 GPA, or All-Americans who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Binversie is a criminal justice major at Waldorf and maintains a 3.62 GPA.

Three Warriors traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete at the Asics U.S. Open over the weekend.  Senior, Tamika Jones sought to wrap up her collegiate career on a high note, seeking a bid to World Team Trials.  In January, Jones received All-American recognition after placing at WCWA Nationals.  Jones' first match at 48 kg was against Bernara Moore.  She was defeated by decision 7-1, 5-1 to enter the consolation bracket.  After a bye, Jones entered a tough fought match with fellow teammate, Lilian Salinas.  Jones took the 2-0, 2-0 decision.  She then faced Oklahoma City University's Emily Webster, who handed Jones a technical fall.  From there, Jones took on Allene Somera in the seventh place match.  Jones emerged victorious with a 5-0, 0-1, 6-1 decision.  Her seventh place finish secured her a spot at World Team Trials.

Waldorf hosted Presentation College for their home opener.  After being held without a home game until April 20th, Waldorf hosted the Saints with some slightly different scenery.  Due to poor conditions on the softball field the game was held on Bolstorff Field.

The WCCHA Conference All-Stars, led by seven players from Waldorf, had a successful weekend at the ACHA Division II All-Star Challenge in West Chester, Pennsylvania on April 5-7th. The team finished with a 3-2 overall record and was in contention for the championship game until a 5-4 loss to the TSCHL in the fourth game.
