Kelsey Riggins enters her first season as associate head coach of Waldorf College’s cross country and track and field programs.

Riggins graduated from Sun Prairie High School in Sun Prairie, Wis. in 2004. She is the school record holder in the pole vault and was also a state qualifier in the pole vault and triple jump competitions.

Following high school, Riggins attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She was a member of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Big Ten Conference championship teams during her career with the Golden Gophers. In 2009, Riggins earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in strategic communication and a minor in history from Minnesota.

Starting her coaching career in 2008 at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park, Minn., Riggins coached student-athletes in the pole vault, sprint and other jumping events.

While coaching at Park Center, Riggins helped the girls’ 4x400-meter and boys’ 4x100 relay teams set new school records. She coached the 2014 District 279 champion and the Northwest Suburban Conference (NWSC) runner-up in the boys’ pole vault. Riggins coached state qualifiers in the girls 100-, 200 and 400-meter dashes, as well as the boys’ triple jump, 200, 4x100 relay and the 4x200 relay.

Riggins also served as gymnastics coach at Park Center from 2009 to 2014. She developed an open gym program for the summer months and served as a spotter on all four events. Riggins coached two state gymnastics meet participants in 2014.

Riggins has a USA Track & Field (USATF) Level 1 coaching certification. She completed a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Jumps Specialist Course at Villanova University in 2014.

Riggins is currently pursuing a master's of science degree in organizational leadership from Waldorf. She resides in Forest City.
