[Men's Golf] Garner's Young Signs with Golf Program

Head Coach Mark Clouse has announced the signing of Rick Young of Garner, Iowa to the men's golf team. Young has demonstrated his talents at Garner-Hayfield High School and will join Waldorf this fall.

The Waldorf softball team landed two players on this year's MCC All-Conference list. Kirstin Davis (So-Runnells, IA) and Kayla Blocker (Jr-LeGrand, IA) both received MCC Honorable Mention accolades. Davis, who received All-Conference honors last year, batted .328 in conference play with three doubles, two homers, and led the team with 12 RBIs. Blocker had a .256 average in conference with five doubles and five RBIs.

Head men's wrestling coach, Tyler Brandt has been selected to speak the National Collegiate Recruiting Conference presented by Tudor Collegiate Strategies. The event will be held June 1^st-3^rd in Boston, Massachusetts. Coaches and athletic directors from all divisions of athletics attend the conference to learn recruiting strategies from experts in the field.

Head men's golf coach Mark Clouse has announced the signing of Nick Boswell. Boswell joins the Warriors following a successful prep career at top-tier Waterloo Columbus High School.

[Softball] Ashford Beats Waldorf in 12-inning Marathon

The Warriors traveled to Des Moines to take on Ashford University for their first game of the MCC Tournament. Waldorf made a strong statement in the top of the first inning scoring 3 runs. Kayla Blocker (JR-LeGrand, IA) reached on a walk and advanced to second on a single by Katie Bredlow (SR-Altoona, IA). Macey Hickes (SR-Winnipeg, MB) reached on a fielder's choice, but Bredlow was out at second on the play. With runners on first and third, Kirstin Davis (SO-Runnells, IA) homered to put the Warriors up 3-0.

Waldorf's Head Volleyball Coach, Paul Meyer will be a guest speaker at North Dakota State University's sixth annual volleyball coaches' clinic. This marks the third time Meyer will be featured at the event. The clinic will take place April 28-29^th in Fargo. It is open to coaches from all levels of competition. [Softball] Tough Red Raider Team Takes Doubleheader from Warriors

Game 1

Northwestern (IA) 2, Waldorf 1

The Red Raiders got on the board in the second inning scoring two runs. Waldorf would be unable to plate a run until the bottom of the fourth inning. Amy Nelson (SR-Clarinda, IA) reached on a walk and advanced to second when Kathryn Nieman (SO-Clear Lake, IA) got on by an error. Macey Hickes (SR-Winnipeg, MB) singled to load the bases for Holly Gilbertson (JR-Forest City, IA). Gilbertson came through with a sacrifice fly to center scoring Nelson. After four innings, Northwestern retained the 2-1 advantage. The Red Raiders would go on to take the win by the same margin.

Spenser Popinga (SR-Hartland, WI) has earned Baseball Player of the Week honors from the Midwest Collegiate Conference. As the Warriors' designated hitter, he averaged .412 last week with seven hits in 17 at bats, including three doubles, a homerun and eight RBIs and a .765 slugging percentage.

Saturday's second game was suspended due to rain, and after four complete innings the Warriors trailed 13-4. They would gain back 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the bottom of the sixth would shatter the Bees' advantage.

The Warriors' two runs came in the bottom of the second inning. Tayla Jones (FR-Owatonna, MN) reached on a walk. A homerun from Amy Nelson (SR-Clarinda, IA) tied the game up at 2-2 through two innings. The Tigers would tack on 6 more runs and take the 8-2 win.

Waldorf got on the board first posting 1 run in the bottom of the first inning. Brandon Pizzo (JR-Fresno, CA) singled and Zach Carr (JR-Des Moines, IA) came in as a pinch runner. Carr stole second base and scored on a base-hit by Lance McFeely (JR-San Diego, CA).
