
The Waldorf College wrestling team will be competing at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships in Des Moines March 1-3rd. For bracket information and results check the websites below.

Waldorf College Head Wrestling Coach Tyler Brandt has been selected to participate in "Wrestling at the College Level: Where do I begin?" This session is provided as an informational session to high school wrestlers and their parents. Kevin Dresser, Head Wrestling Coach at Virginia Tech is the founder of Going to the Next Level, Inc., which is aimed at preparing high school wrestlers and their families for the opportunities and challenges associated with competing in college wrestling. Dresser was a two-time All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion and the 1984 national champion at 142 pounds for the University of Iowa. As a prep athlete he was a two-time state champion at Humboldt High School. In 2009 he was elected into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Wrestling Hall of Fame.

The Waldorf wrestling team took to Des Moines on Saturday to compete in the NAIA Central Region National Qualifier. At 157 pounds Jeremy Padilla (SR-Henderson, NV), who was already a National qualifier, tore up the brackets making the finals against Oklahoma City University's top-ranked Nik Turner. Padilla lost by decision in a close match 10-5 to take second place.


The Waldorf men's wrestling team took on #1 Grand View University on Tuesday night in Forest City. On senior night the Warriors earned two match wins. At 133 pounds, Jeff Ohnemus (SR-Greenfield, IA) won by decision over Ali Mohammed, 11-4. At 197 pounds, Brock Binversie (SO-Whitelaw, WI) won by fall over Tyler Pullin. Grand View would win the dual 40-9.
