Waldorf University Warriors Shine at Grinnell’s Dick Young Invitational
Grinnell, IA- The Waldorf University Warriors Men's Track and Field team delivered notable performances at the Grinnell's Dick Young Invitational on April 12, 2024, in Grinnell, Iowa. This outdoor track meet saw several Warriors athletes set impressive marks.
Sunel Fernandez led the charge for Waldorf, clocking a remarkable 11.07 in the 100-meter dash, placing him 4th all-time in the event for the Warriors. His efforts were complemented by teammates across both running and field events. In running events, Robert Beal secured times of 22.73 in the 200-meter and 11.27 in the 100-meter, showing significant prowess alongside Blayson Dolney, who recorded a 53.25 in the 400-meter. The depth of talent was further underscored by Dominique Brunel and Xzayvier Horton, who set competitive times across multiple sprinting events.
Field events also highlighted the Warriors' strengths, with Jayden Lawrence throwing 10.45 meters in the Shot Put and 26.02 meters in the Discus Throw. James Robey's efforts in the Hammer Throw reached 37.93 meters, marking a strong day for him alongside his Javelin Throw at 35.27 meters.
A key moment of the meet for Waldorf was the Men's 4x100 Relay Team achieving a time of 42.84, showcasing the team's excellent coordination and speed.
The collective accomplishments at this meet have set the stage for the next competition at Northwestern's Red Raider Open, scheduled for April 17, 2025.
