Warrior Men Make Strides at Kip Janvrin Open
Indianola, Iowa – The Waldorf University Warriors men's track and field team brought their best to the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College, walking away with a string of nine personal records and multiple all-time program marks as they gear up for postseason competition.
Among the top performances, Isaiah Cote ran a strategic race in the 1500-meter, clocking a 4:19.08—good for a personal best and 7th all-time in school history. Meanwhile, Sunel Fernandez displayed his raw speed in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.60 seconds, placing him 5th all-time in the Waldorf record books.
Jeacejay Jappah delivered a solid double, running a 12.04 in the 100-meter dash and a 54.79 in the 400-meter—both personal bests. Michael Williams also put in a strong effort in the 400m, finishing in 54.24.
In the field events, Jayden Lawrence launched the discus 28.88 meters, while James Robey earned a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 37.25 meters. Sprinter Caden Unruh continued his development with personal records of 13.70 in the 100m and 27.88 in the 200m.
The Warriors' strong showing in Indianola sets the tone for their biggest meet of the year: the GPAC Championships, held May 2nd and 3rd at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.
