Waldorf Warriors Women’s Track and Field Break Records and Earn All-Conference Honors at GPAC Championships

HASTINGS, Neb. — The Waldorf University Warriors women's track and field team delivered a memorable performance at the GPAC Outdoor Championships this past weekend at Hastings College, highlighted by a school record, five personal bests, and three top-10 finishes, including an all-conference honor for a senior standout.

The Warriors were led by Eliza McKown, who etched her name in the record books with a remarkable run in the 800 meters, clocking 2:14.79 to set a new school record and earn a 2nd-place finish, securing valuable points for the team.

Senior Danielle Wood closed out her collegiate career in style, running a personal-best 42:08.28 in the 10,000 meters, earning 7th place and her first-ever All-Conference honor.

"I am so proud of how our ladies represented Waldorf," said head coach Janna Langrell. "They ran with so much heart. Danielle finished her final meet of her career strong, running a huge personal best in her 10k and placing 7th, earning herself all-conference accolades for the first time in her career. She has represented the program well over the last four years, and I am glad we finished her career on a high note."

Freshman Marissa O'Connor showed her versatility, setting two personal bests — running 1:10.87 in the 400-meter hurdles (3rd all-time) and 13:11.87 in the 3000-meter steeplechase, where she finished 8th overall.

Brandi Peck added to the Warriors' strong showing with a personal best of 1:03.65 in the 400 meters, good for 7th all-time in program history.

In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of McKown, Peck, O'Connor, and Torres clocked a time of 4:14.95, closing out the weekend with a unified and spirited team effort.

The Warriors' performance at the GPAC Championships reflects a program on the rise, filled with record-setters, dedicated seniors, and rising stars. With postseason energy and personal milestones achieved, the future looks bright for Waldorf women's track and field.
