Waldorf men's bowling wraps up weekend with solid effort at Jayhawk Challenge No. 2
TOPEKA, Kan. – Back in action for a second straight day, the Waldorf men's bowling team turned in a strong effort to finish 12th on Sunday at the Jayhawk Challenge No. 2 tournament.
Tyler Harlow (JR/Manvel, N.D.), Harry Weigle (SO/Anchorage, Alaska), and Jacob Miner (SO/East Moline, Ill.) all turned in top-50 finishes for the Warriors who as a team recorded a total pinfall of 6,315 for the event.
"We definitely struggled and that's okay, that happens," Waldorf coach Kyle Swiderski said. "We are going to go back to the basics this week and iron some things out."
For the second straight day, William Penn was the team champion bowling a score of 7,321, while Ottawa's Jared Freed won the individual title with a four-game score of 882.
As for Waldorf, Harlow led the way finishing 37th with a four-game score of 715 (182, 160, 189, 184) and a 178.8 pins per game average. Weigle was right behind him, one place and one pin back in 38th with a score of 714 (202, 186, 157, 169) and a four-game average of 178.5.
Miner rounded out the Warriors four-game, top-50 finishes as he was 47th with a total pinfall of 684 (146, 195, 187, 156) and a 171 average.
Helping out the Warriors team total was Dakota Savoie (SO/Owatonna, Minn.), who was 79th with a three-game score of 536 (171, 195, 170), Ryan Swiderski (JR/Minneapolis, Minn.), who was 80th with a total of 534 (145, 168, 221) for three games, and Blake Grunzke (FR/Albert Lea, Minn.), who was 110th with a two-game score of 357 (188, 169).
Both Waldorf bowling teams are back in action this coming weekend, competing in the two-day Leatherneck Classic in Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday and Sunday.
