Men Compete at NSAA Cross Country Championships
DICKINSON, N.D. – With three weeks since their last race, the Warriors were back for the North Star Athletic Association Championships hosted by Dickinson State University at the Heart River Golf Course. Race time was scheduled to start at 11AM MST for the Men's 8k and 12PM MST for the Women's 5k. Due to frost on the course, the races were pushed back to 12:30PM for the Men's 8k and 1:15 PM for the Women's 5k. Come race time, the weather was sunny with a high of 48. The course was overall pretty flat, consisting of 3 loops for the men and 1 large loop and 1 small loop for the women which proved to be a fast course.
Chase Bennett (SR/Junction City, KS) ran a time of 30:44.6 placing 37th overall at conference. This is a 1:06 improvement from his personal best set in 2018. "I think Chase perfectly executed his race plan," Head Coach Janna Langrell stated. "I knew he had the ability to set a personal best, however, I think he really surprised himself as well. I am so proud of how he ended his collegiate cross country career"
Andrew Huber (JR/Worthington, MN) ran a time of 30:56.9 placing 38th overall at conference. "Andrew ran a tough race. I am proud of how he raced this season and am looking forward to watching him race come track season" Langrell said. Andrew was awarded with the North Star Athletic Association Champion of Character.
Nolan Reynolds (SR) ran a time of 36:29.5 placing 45th overall at conference. This was Nolan's first collegiate cross country race.
Landen Bowser (SO) ran a time of 36:41.7 placing 46th overall at conference. This was Landen's first collegiate cross country race.
John Mazur (FR) ran a time of 37:34.9 placing 47th overall at conference. This was John's first collegiate cross country race.
X-Zayvier Horton (FR) ran a time of 39:47.9 placing 48th overall at conference. This was X-Zayvier's first collegiate cross country race.
"I am so proud of how each and every one of these athletes. Although we had the race delayed twice, the men remained optimistic looking towards the race," Langrell said on the day. "I am very thankful for the athletes who stepped up to race this weekend and was proud of them all."
