O'Connor Named as NSAA Runner of the Week
BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced its fifth edition of women's and men's cross country runners of the eek on Tuesday. Marissa O'Connor was selected as the women's runner of the week.
"I am so proud of Marissa and the grit she showed this weekend," Head Coach Janna Langrell stated. "This was a great opening 6k for her and I am excited to see her continue to build and get faster throughout the season."
O'Connor (FR/Murietta, CA) competed at the Dan Hutson Invitational in Waverly, Iowa over the weekend. She competed in the 6k and ran a time of 25 minutes, 51.2 seconds. O'Connor finished 81st that featured a total of 218 runners.
"I am honored to be named NSAA athlete of the week. It has been an exciting start of the cross season being a freshman and being introduced to new experiences," O'Connor added. "I'm so grateful that I have amazing teammates who make doing what I love so much easier and beyond thankful for my coaches who give me nothing but confidence and support. I am excited to see what I can accomplish as this season continues."
This marks the first NSAA runner of the week for the women's cross country team since Marissa Kuik in 2018.
Next for the women's cross country team is the Jim Drews Invitational in West Salem, Wisconsin on Saturday, October 14th at 11:20 am.
