Women's Cross Country Finish 5th at NSAA Conference Championship
WEST SALEM, WI – The Waldorf women's cross country team closed out their season the North Star Athletic Conference Championship on Friday afternoon at the Maple Grove Venue. The Warriors finished in 5th place and had five athletes that finished in the top 25.
"This was such an exciting race to watch. I think the ladies ran exceptionally well. We had a few battling through various injuries and still finished the race strong," Head Coach Janna Langrell said. "These ladies have worked hard all season and finished well. I'm looking forward to continuing this momentum into indoor where I think their talents will really be showcased."
Marissa O'Connor (FR/Murietta, CA) finished in 14th with a time of 25:29.9. "Marissa ran a really gritty, tactical race. She stayed composed and continuously moved up throughout the race," stated Langrell.
Miracle Tucker (FR/MN) ran a 25:52.7 and finished in 17th. Eliza McKown (SO/Orono, MN) finished 20th with a time of 26:11.0. "Eliza and Miracle worked great together throughout the race to tackle to hills and isolated parts of the course together," added Langrell.
Danielle Wood (JR/Howard Lake, MN) was close behind with a time of 26:33.0 and finished 22nd. "Danielle ran a consistent race as usual and really looked strong out there," said Langrell.
Valerie Hunt (FR/WA) ran a time of 31:36.1. Langrell stated, "Val really looked great in her only race of the season after working through a few aches and pains throughout the season, it was good to see her race."
Kayla Avila (FR/TX) ran a 33:02.5 and Gemma Jasso (SR/Edinburg, TX) ran a time of 34:06.1. "Kayla and Gemma both pushed through some nagging injuries and finished strong and showed how much heart they each had for this team. I'm really so blessed to work with this group of ladies."
