Waldorf Cheer Compete at GPAC Championships
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf Warriors competed in the GPAC Cheer Championships held at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa on March 6th.
The event started out with prelim competitions with the eight GPAC schools performing their routine. The Warriors placed sixth with a score of 76.97 heading into the finals. Out of eight teams competing, Northwestern took first with a total score of 89.55, Midland followed with 89.41, and Doane in third with 85.95. Up next came Mount Marty (78.86) and Dordt (77.66). Just .19 points shy of the fifth place team, Waldorf finished in sixth place with a finals score of 77.63 for total of 77.47. Hastings finished with 77.43 and Concordia with 76.73. Waldorf completed both perfomances with zero deductions.
The Warriors finish their season with another school record and improved by 23.89 points from their first competition at the end of January. "This season we had amazing growth and significant contribution from our athletes," Head Coach Cat Evans shared. "We met the tumbling and stunt requirements to be a true competitor in the GPAC and our team not only broke records but gained recognition from other coaches and teams in their efforts. "Proud" is an understatement and this is just the beginning for what's to come from your Waldorf Cheer Team."
