Waldorf Esports Powers Through First Half of Season with Big Wins
FOREST CITY, Iowa – The Waldorf University Esports team is well into the Fall 2025 season, showcasing depth and resilience across multiple game titles. Competing in Super Smash Bros., Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, and Rocket League, the Warriors have put together an impressive set of performances, particularly in team-based titles.
Marvel Rivals
Waldorf's Marvel Rivals squad has been nearly untouchable this season, currently holding an undefeated 4-0 record. The Warriors opened the season with a clean 3-0 sweep over Fresno Pacific University (9/23) and have since continued their winning streak with victories over Morningside University (3-0, 9/30), Arkansas Tech University (3-1, 10/7), and, most recently, Western Illinois University (3-0, 10/14). Their coordination and strategic gameplay have made them a standout force in this newly emerging competitive title.
Overwatch
In Overwatch, the team opened their campaign with a pair of convincing wins, defeating Rockford University 3-1 (9/29) and blanking Concordia University Chicago 3-0 (10/9). However, a tough road matchup against North Park University on 10/10 saw the Warriors fall 0-3 — their first loss of the season in the title. Despite the setback, Waldorf stands at 2-1 in Overwatch, still well-positioned as a top contender moving forward.
Rocket League
The Rocket League team has brought excitement to fans with high-scoring action and dramatic finishes. The Warriors remain undefeated at 2-0, shutting out Northwestern College 4-0 (10/1) and narrowly edging Carroll University 4-3 (10/8) in a nail-biting series. Their aggressive playstyle and mechanical skill have made each match a must-watch.
Super Smash Bros.
In contrast to their team-game success, Waldorf has struggled to find its footing in Super Smash Bros., currently sitting at 0-4. Despite showing flashes of individual talent, the Warriors have dropped matches to Doane University (0-2, 9/23), Northwestern College (0-2, 9/30), Wayne State (0-2, 10/7), and Bellevue University (0-2, 10/14). The team remains focused on improving and making adjustments as the season progresses.
With a busy first half of the season behind them, Waldorf Esports looks to continue building on its success — particularly in Marvel Rivals, Rocket League, and Overwatch. Rocket League looks to continue its success on Wednesday, October 15, at 7 p.m. against Bradley University.
