Waldorf Shooting Sports Competes at Greater Midwest Super Sport Regional
ALDA, Neb. - The Waldorf University Shooting Sports team delivered a strong showing at the Greater Midwest Super Sport (ACUI Regionals) this past weekend, held October 17–19 at the Heartland Public Shooting Park in Alda, Nebraska. Competing in five disciplines over three days — Double Skeet, Sporting Clays, American Skeet, Super Sporting, and American Trap — the Warriors put up impressive scores and earned both individual and team recognition.
Fisher Nagel led the Warriors with consistent performances across the board, including a top score of 44 in Double Skeet and 94 in American Trap. His efforts earned him 27th overall in Men's CAA (Combined American Events) with a total of 259 and 10th overall in Men's HOA (High Overall) with a combined score of 335.
On the women's side, Desirae Igou and Nicole Laes made strong impressions. Igou finished 14th in Women's CAA (240) and placed 4th overall in Women's HOA (292), including a team-best 94 in American Trap and 90 in American Skeet. Laes followed closely behind, finishing 17th in Women's CAA (237) and 6th in Women's HOA (282), highlighted by a score of 78 in Sporting Clays.
In Double Skeet (50 targets), Fisher Nagel scored 44, Dylan Gotimer 43, Dominick Weaver 41, Nicole Laes 29, and Desirae Igou 28. In Sporting Clays (100 targets), Nicole Laes led the team with 78, followed by Fisher Nagel with 75, Dominick Weaver with 72, Dylan Gotimer with 66, and Desirae Igou with 56.
In American Skeet (100 targets), both Desirae Igou and Fisher Nagel scored 90, Dylan Gotimer posted an 89, Nicole Laes scored 85, and Dominick Weaver added 72. Super Sporting (50 targets) saw Fisher Nagel on top again with 32, followed by Desirae Igou and Dominick Weaver with 24 each, Dylan Gotimer with 23, and Nicole Laes with 16.
American Trap (100 targets) was a strong event for the team, with Dylan Gotimer, Desirae Igou, and Fisher Nagel each shooting 94. Nicole Laes hit 74, and Dominick Weaver recorded 68.
Waldorf finished 14th overall in the team CAA division with a total of 1,197 targets hit and secured a top-10 finish in the team HOA division, placing 9th overall with a combined total of 1,501.
With strong performances and valuable regional experience under their belts, the Warriors will now set their sights on the Iowa 4-Year Championship, where they will compete again on November 1. The team continues to demonstrate growth and promise as a competitive force in collegiate shooting sports.
