Waldorf Shooting Sports Earns Fifth Place at Iowa 4-Year College State Championship
WAUKEE, Iowa — November 1–2, 2025 — The Waldorf Warrior Shooting Sports team turned in a strong performance over the weekend at the Iowa 4-Year College State Championship, earning fifth place overall with a combined High Overall (HOA) team score of 1,336 at the New Pioneer Range in Waukee. The two-day competition tested shooters' skills across sporting clays, trap, super sporting, and skeet, bringing together top collegiate talent from across the state.
The Warriors opened the weekend with sporting clays on Saturday morning, led by Fisher Nagel's 65, followed by solid rounds from Desi Igou with 59 and Nicole Laes with 58. The team posted a collective sporting total of 281. In the afternoon trap event, Waldorf hit its stride with standout performances from Jillian Kardoes and Nagel, each shooting a 92, while Laes added an 86. The Warriors finished trap with a team total of 436.
Sunday's competition began with super sporting, where Nagel again paced the team with a 37, while Igou and Dominick Weaver each shot 34, contributing to a team total of 169. The weekend concluded with skeet, where the Warriors displayed remarkable precision. Nagel led the squad with an impressive 95, followed closely by Brianna Myers and Igou, both scoring 90, and Laes with 87. Waldorf's consistency in skeet produced a team-best event score of 450.
It was a memorable weekend for several Warriors. Brianna Myers celebrated a major milestone by shooting her first 25 straight in skeet, while senior Jillian Kardoes capped off her collegiate career with a fifth-place finish in the ladies' trap division.
The Warriors' strong showing at the state championship reflects the program's continued growth and competitive spirit. Waldorf now looks ahead to its upcoming winter training sessions and the spring competition schedule.
