Hockey - Warriors Sweep Jacks on the Road
The Waldorf hockey team finished the weekend off with a sweep against the Jacks, winning 5-1 today.
"The guys came out and played hockey. It was fun to watch," Head Coach Mike Heitkamp stated. "We did a nice job of killing off some penalties to keep the lead."
Cale Anderson (FR/Maple Ridge, British Columbia) found the back of the net early in the first period, unassisted to take the lead. Chayse Haberman scored on a power-play against the Jacks, assisted by Anderson, to extend the lead for the Warriors, 2-0 to end the first period.
The Warriors stayed in control by adding two more goals in the second period. Morgan Sweeney (JR/Hastings, MN) scored the third goal, assisted by Tyler Roepke (JR/Tulsa, OK).
Haberman scored his second goal of the day, fourth for the Warriors unassisted. The Jacks scored their only goal at the eight-minute mark on a power-play against the Warriors.
The final goal for the Warriors was from Jacob Lindblom (JR/Pine City, MN), assisted by goaltender Nelson Schiller (JR/Strathmore, Alberta), on a power-play against the Jacks in the third period. The Warriors won 5-1.
"It was nice to see Nelson Schiller provide the third great goaltending performance for us this weekend. Plus, Chayse Haberman had another good game against his old team. Plus, Peyton Kesselhon played a good gritty game for us," said Heitkamp. "This should give momentum heading into next weekend."
Schiller finished the game with 42 saves.
The Warriors will return to their home ice for a conference weekend series against No. 8 University of Jamestown starting on Friday, Feb. 3rd. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
