Bio
Mike Heitkamp joined the Warrior hockey program as the head coach in the summer of 2021 bringing more than two decades of coaching experience to Waldorf.
The Vice President of Residential Enrollment at Waldorf, Heitkamp also holds a Level IV USA Hockey coaching certification and has experience coaching both men's and women's teams ranging from squirts up to U19 Tier 1 and midget teams. Most recently Coach Heitkamp served as the Bantam AA head coach in Grand Rapids, Minn. Coach Heitkamp has also assisted with the High-Performance programs in Minnesota and North Dakota.
A native of Bismarck, N.D., Heitkamp played high school hockey in 8th, 9th, and 10th grades at Century High School before moving onto the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League where he played for two years for the Minot Americans. A hip injury ended his playing career early, and he made the transition from player to coach the following year assisting with the youth program.
Coach Heitkamp has worked in higher education over the last 20 years. He has worked within enrollment services as either a Director of Admissions, Associate VP of Enrollment, or Vice President of Enrollment.
Coach Heitkamp lives in Forest City with his wife, Brenda. They have two grown children: Danielle and Michael.
