Olivo-Cabrera Named as NSAA Track Athlete of the Week
BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association announced its second edition of the women's and men's outdoor track & field athletes of the week on Tuesday. Jorge Olivo-Cabrera was selected as the men's track athlete of the week.
"I am honored to be the NSAA athlete of the week. The indoor season was great and the start of outdoor was one to remember," Olivo-Cabrera stated. "My coaches and teammates have had such an impact that I am very thankful for. This honor is specifically dedicated to Coach Pop as he has set me up for the success I am having today."
Jorge Olivo-Cabrera (SR/Andover, MN) took 2nd place with a time of 14.76 in the 110m hurdles at the Mustang Open hosted by Mount Mercy on Saturday. Going into the finals, Olivo-Cabrera was third with a time of 14.85. Olivo-Cabrera was also a part of the 4x400m relay team who placed 2nd with a time of 3:30.04.
"Jorge ran a great race this Saturday. He ran this race well and I am looking forward to the progress he will continue to make throughout the outdoor season," Interim Head Coach Janna Langrell said. "Coach Pop would have been so proud of him."
The Warriors will compete next at the USD Early Bird Invitational hosted by the University of South Dakota starting on Friday, March 7th.
