Men's track competes at Mount Mercy
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Competing in chilly, windy conditions, the Waldorf men's track and field team took part in the DeBacker Invitational hosted by Mount Mercy.
Marquis Simpson had himself a good in the field events. In the high jump, his height of 1.85 meters put him fourth all-time at Waldorf. He also had a distance of 5.75 meters in the long jump.
Five other athletes had personal bests. Robay Birri had a time of 11.72 in the 100-meter dash. In the same race, Javontay Harper had a time of 11.61. Brunelson Dominique ran a 2:31.61 in the 800-meter run. Andrew Huber had a great run in the 1500 meters. His time of 4:30.11 was 14 seconds faster than what he did two weeks ago and it broke a two-year old personal best for him. Rocky Ketchum had a time of 24.75 in the 200-meter dash.
"I am extremely proud of how our athletes competed this past weekend," said head coach Janna Langrell. "With a real feel temperature ranging from 31 to 38 degrees, I was unsure of how times would look."
Waldorf will be competing at two different events this weekend, the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open.
