Men's Track Compete at Norse Invite
DECORAH, Iowa – The Waldorf men's outdoor track team competed at the Norse Invite hosted by Luther College on Saturday. The Warriors finished the day with six personal records and two season relay bests.
"This weekend was a lower intensity week for a majority of our athletes. We used this weekend to try a lot of new events, ran two relays for the first time this season, and really stepped outside of some comfort zones," Interim Head Coach Janna Langrell stated.
Wade Baker (SR/Chewelah, WA) got a 3rd place finish in the shot put with a distance of 14.39m. Chris May finished with a personal record in the hammer throw with 40.47m and finished 9th. Zach Morel (JR/Oceanside, CA) competed in the long jump with a jump of 6.35m which resulted in 8th place.
Jorge Olivo-Cabrera (SR/Andover, MN) and Brunelson Dominique (FR/Lauderhill, FL) raced in the 400m with setting PRs. Olivo-Cabrera ran a 52.32 and Dominique a 55.06. Dominique also set another PR in the 200m with a time of 24.86.
Chase Bennett (SR/Junction City, KS) ran the 1500m and set a new PR with a time of 4:32.07. Dartanian Morin (FR/Iowa Falls, IA) competed in the 110 hurdles and finished with a time of 15.96.
Jaylen Malone (FR/Conroe, TX), Xzayvier Horton (FR/Atlanta, GA), and Nehemiah Harrell (FR/Cincinnati, OH) all competed in the 100m, and Malone ran the 200m as well.
The 4x100m relay team, consisted of Harrell, Morin, Malone, and Horton, took 4th place and the sprint medley, made up of Nolan Reynolds (JR/Las Vegas, NV), Bennett, Harrell, and Horton, finished 6th place.
"We had a good showing on the men's side with a lot of athletes participating on either the 4x1 or sprint medley," Langrell said. "Two of the biggest performances we saw this weekend was Chris May finally breaking into the 40 meter range for the first time as well as Brunelson taking nearly 3 seconds off his 400m PR set just two weeks ago."
Next up the Warriors have two meets where athletes will compete at, one being the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-LaCrosse and the other is the Red Raider Invitational hosted by Northwestern College this upcoming weekend.
