On the first day, Holmes secured his spot into the finals in the 400m hurdles. "I am so proud of how each of these athletes competed and represented Waldorf University. Khamarly kicked the weekend off with an exciting 400m hurdle prelim. I think he executed the race exactly as we needed him to and he walked away with about a half second PR which was huge," Interim Head Coach Janna Langrell stated.
For the second day, all three athletes competed. Olivo-Cabrera ran in the 110m hurdles and finished 20th overall with a time of 14.94. "Jorge ran an excellent race and has had by far his most consistently successful season of his career," Langrell stated.
Holmes then ran in the 400m, just shy of misisng the finals with a time of 48.63 and finished 12th overall. "Khamaraly's open 400 showcased his strength with a late kick with 100m to go, just misisng qualifying for the finals," Langrell said.
Baker competed in the discus and placed 27th with a mark of 41.81m. "Wade had some good throws with discus and it was exciting to see him compete at outdoor nationals," Langrell said. Baker also competed in the shot put and finished in 18th with a mark of 41.81m. "On the final day of competition, Wade started us off with shot put, narrowly missing a PR and having a great end to his season," stated Langrell.
Khamarly Holmes finished 7th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.96 and was named as an All-American. "Khamarly Holmes' 400m hurdle tinal was the last event for the week and he ran a great race," said Langrell. "He has worked so hard to get to this point and accomplish this.
