Men's Wrestling - Warriors Compete at Dave Edmonds Invitational
The Waldorf men's wrestling team competed at the Dave Edmonds Invitational and finished with three wrestlers placing in the top six.
The Warriors had two wrestlers place in the 149 lbs bracket. Dalton Thorson (SO/Lake Mills, IA) won his first dual by technical fall, 19-4 against Blake Dirksen of St. Ambrose University. In his next bout, Thorson defeated Tyler Fouts of Briar Cliff by fall, 2:54.
In the semi-final dual, Thorson was defeated by Steven Aranda by a 9-4 decision. Thorson lost his next dual to battle for third place to Malcom Williams of Iowa Western Community College by fall, 4:51. Thorson took 6th place.
Tyler Okada (SO/Anaheim, CA) won his first dual against Parker Terronez of St. Ambrose University by fall, 5:56. In his next dual, Okada defeated Lane Barton of Wayne State College by a major decision, 16-6.
For the semi-final bout, Okada fell to Dylan Marlowe (Marlowe took first place) by a major decision, 15-6. Okada bounced back and defeated Caleb Nielsen of Dickinson State by decision, 12-8 to play in the 3rd place match. Okada defeated Malcom Williams for third place by a major decision, 16-6.
Jalon Strong competed (unattached) in the 165 lbs bracket and finished in 6th place. Strong won his first dual against Cole Rutter of Northwestern by a 9-5 decision. In his next bout, Strong was defeated by Riley Benson by an 11-10 decision.
In Strong's next dual, he defeated Chance Sjulin of Wayne State College by a major decision 12-3. Strong kept his momentum to win his next dual against Kody Hahn of Midland by a major decision of 16-6. The next dual, Strong fell by a major decision 16-5 and for fifth place, Strong was defeated by fall, 1:38 and took 6th.
Next up for the Warriors is the Heart of America Conference Championships on Saturday, Feb. 18th.
