Waldorf Women’s Wrestlers Post Multiple Tech Falls, Pins at Battle for the Helmet
MASON CITY, Iowa — Waldorf University's women's wrestling team turned in a series of dominant individual performances at the Battle for the Helmet tournament on Saturday, highlighted by multiple tech falls and wins by fall across the lineup.
Rosa Ramirez added depth to the lineup with a 1-2 mark, battling through multiple bouts to pick up a win in her bracket. Together, their results reflected a lineup that continued to compete and adjust across multiple rounds.
Ari Hen and Izzy Urban led the Warriors' effort, each finishing the event with a 2-1 record. All four of their combined victories came by technical fall, underscoring their offensive firepower and ability to separate from opponents on the scoreboard. Their consistency through multiple rounds provided a steady anchor for Waldorf in the tournament setting.
Hen's performance showcased strong attacks and control in neutral positions, turning early openings into sizeable leads that forced tech falls. Urban matched that pace, using pressure and scoring to secure her own tech-fall wins. While both wrestlers dropped one bout, they responded with convincing victories that demonstrated resilience and mat awareness against a competitive field.
Waldorf also generated momentum in the upper and middle weights with wins by fall from Leela Shehan and Olivia Burciaga. Each wrestler went 1-3 on the day but made her lone victory count, ending matches by pin to secure maximum points in her respective bracket. Their ability to close out bouts with falls added a decisive element to the Warriors' overall effort.Renee Miguel contributed a balanced showing with a 1-1 record, splitting her matches while remaining in contention throughout.
Although full team scores were not provided, the Warriors' collection of tech falls and pins at the Battle for the Helmet indicated meaningful progress in key positions. With Hen and Urban establishing themselves as reliable point scorers and several teammates converting opportunities into falls, Waldorf will look to build on the technical gains and finishing ability shown in Mason City as the season moves forward.
