Men's golf competes in final tune-up before NSAAs
DECORAH, Iowa - Competing for the final time before the NSAA championships next week, the Waldorf men's golf team traveled to Decorah for the two-day Luther Spring Classic. A strong second day moved the Warriors to a fifth place team standing.
Waldorf stood in sixth place after the first day. All players improved their day two rounds. Thomas Houdayer had a big jump from Saturday to Sunday. After carding a 78 on Saturday, Houdayer shot a 3-under, 69, to improve to finish in a tie for third place overall in the individual standings. Cole Ruckman tallied scores of 79 and 78 to finish in a tie 20th place. Tyler Clouse took four shots off his Saturday score to card a 160 (82, 78). Aaron Fleming (162) and Keegan Bronson (170) rounded out Waldorf's 'A' team.
Waldorf's 'B' team was led by Johannes Shaw who improved from an 83 Saturday to a 79 Sunday to come into a tie for 42nd place. Caden Loeppky carded a 166 over the two days. Logan Hoshauer and Caden Skelding each carded a two-day total of 167. And Carlos Filipczak was a shot behind at 168.
The Waldorf men's and women's teams will next compete at the NSAA Championships April 29-30 in La Crosse, Wis.
