Waldorf Men’s Golf takes on Graceland Invitational
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Waldorf Men's Golf Team took on Mozingo Lake Golf Course March 27-28 for the Graceland Invitational. The second round closed Saturday evening, with the Warriors maintaining their eighth place standing from day one after posting scores of 337-323.
Luke Fenner paced the Warrior effort on the par-72, 7,086-yard course, notching a top-20 finish with a two-round total of 161 (+17). Following closely was Carlos Filipczak, who finished 23rd with a tally of 164 (+20).
Freddie Muggeridge of Southwestern CC (IA) and Jordan Clancy of Southwestern (KS) shared the top spot in the tournament at six-over-par. Muggeridge's Spartans also earned the team title, playing their way to a ten stroke victory over Clancy's Moundbuilders.
"We had a very demanding two days of competition," head coach Mark Clouse said. "The strong winds and cold temperatures made the tournament especially challenging."
Other scoring members for Waldorf were Christian Prambs and Cayden Bray. Prambs tapped in a short birdie putt on the par-4 ninth hole to finish in 36th place, while Bray was just behind in 39th.
Prior to Friday's day of play, coaches decided to begin the second round immediately following the first, anticipating freezing conditions Saturday morning. The decision proved fruitful, as Saturday's start time was delayed one hour. Players had finished between one and four extra holes on Friday evening before sunset, allowing for a timely finish on Saturday.
The Warriors will be back in action Monday, April 6 when they compete in the DMACC Spring Invitational at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone, Iowa.
