Houdayer first; team second at Monmouth Invite
MONMOUTH, Ill. - Thomas Houdayer captured the individual title at the two-day Monmouth Invitational that concluded Sunday. He helped Waldorf gain a second place team finish out of 11 teams.
Houdayer was in seventh place following 3-over par 74 on Saturday. Sunday he climbed all the way to the top after carding a 5-under par 66 to claim the individual crown with a two-day total of 140, good for 2-under par. He finished one stroke ahead of Briggs Bossert of Monmouth.
The entire Waldorf team had great rounds on Sunday. They moved from fourth place on Saturday to second place overall after Sunday as they shot a cumulative 6-over par; the best team round of the day. Knox won the team crown was an overall total of 15-over par. Waldorf finished with 33-over par. Tyler Clouse shot an even par round of 71 to move up to ninth place overall. Braxton Tremain finished in a tie for 15th place. Keegan Bronson tied for 24th and Carlos Filipczak finished 28th. Johannes Shaw had the top showing from Waldorf's B team as he finished tied with Tremain for 15th place.
Waldorf next competes Tuesday at the NIACC Invitational.
