Warrior Golf finishes 7th at the Central Methodist Spring Invitational
BOONVILLE, Mo. – Waldorf University's men's golf team competed for the first time this spring at the Central Methodist Spring Invitational, tallying scores of 305 and 303 across the two-day, 36-hole event at Hail Ridge Golf Course.
The Warriors faced breezy conditions as they finished in 7th place after two circuits of the par-71, 6,516 yard layout, six shots behind Missouri Baptist (B). The William Woods Owls took home the title, shooting 562 (-5) across both rounds, led by individual medalist Tim Falk who posted a two-round total of (-2).
Waldorf was led by junior Luke Fenner, who shot a first round 73 (+2) highlighted by two eagles, holing a 20-foot putt on the 508-yard, par-5 third hole and coming within a foot of the hole on his 200-yard 6-iron into the green on the 545-yard, par-5 14th hole. His two-day score of (+6) was good enough for a 21st place finish.
Behind Fenner was Christian Prambs in 32nd place, shooting 77-74 (+9). Rounding out the scoring for the Warriors were juniors Carlos Filipczak and Jacob Wiersma, who finished T-39th and 45th, respectively.
Newcomer Cayden Bray put together a strong showing in his first event as a Warrior. Playing as an individual, Bray posted a first round score of 80 (+9) and a team-best 74 (+3) during the second round.
Looking ahead, Waldorf's men's and women's teams will travel to Maryville, Mo., for the Graceland Invitational held March 27-28 at Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
