Warriors Fall to (RV)Vikings on Senior Night
FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf women's volleyball team returned to Hanson Fieldhouse for Senior Night against the (RV)Valley City State University Vikings and were defeated in three straight sets. The Warriors honored their six seniors at the conclusion of the match.
"We started the night with a ton of energy and execution but couldn't maintain that pace," stated Head Coach Bri Ebenhoe. "Our seniors competed well on Senior Night and gave the amazing crowd at the Fieldhouse a great show."
Set 1: The Warriors opened the match with an 8-0 lead that consisted of kills by Sydney (FR/Roscoe, IL) and Kenzie Kidd (SR/Roscoe, IL), a service ace from Alisha Schaefer (SR/Mount Calvary, WI), and Viking errors. Back-to-back kills from Kenzie and Anna Longhenry (SO/Fenton, IA) extended the lead 10-3. Valley City slowly fought back to bring the game within four before taking the set 25-23.
Set 2: Valley City started off strong by going on a 7-3 run. Kills from Sydney, Kenzie, and Devyn Scott (SR/Fort Dodge, IA) brought that game to 8-10. The Vikings took the set 25-12. Valley City held Waldorf to six kills.
Set 3: Kenzie and Scott got things moving for the Warriors to take a 5-4 lead. The Vikings took an 18-10 lead. The Warriors started to rally, but the Vikings won 25-19.
Kenzie Kidd finished with 11 kills, 8 digs, and two block assists. Scott added 5 kills and Schaefer had 13 digs. Kaylee Kidd (SR/Roscoe, IL) had a team-high of 16 digs and Emma Hovenga (SR/Forest City, IA) led the offense with 20 assists.
Ebenhoe added, "Thank you for coming out and showing support for our six seniors!!! We will miss this class tremendously and are looking forward to our competition tomorrow."
The Warriors will be back tomorrow, November 4th for their last regular season game against Dickinson State. First serve is at 1 pm.
