DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Waldorf University volleyball team opened its 2025 season dominantly, going 4-0 at the Clarke Tournament over the weekend.
The Warriors started strong on Friday, August 22, with a 3-set sweep over St. Ambrose. Kaylin Koch led the offense with 9 kills, while Peyton Klooster controlled the net with 7 blocks. Defensively, Ashley Kurschner anchored the back row with 8 digs, and Emily Goodner added pressure from the service line with 3 aces.
Later that day, the Warriors secured a 4-set victory against York. Peyton Klooster was on fire, posting 13 kills while hitting an impressive .500. Kaci Johnson and Jalyn Hovenga each added 3 blocks. McKenna Marlow led the defense with 21 digs, and both Kaylin Koch and Ashley Kurschner chipped in 2 aces apiece.
Saturday continued the winning momentum as Waldorf took down Madonna in four sets. Kaylin Koch and Anna Longhenry paced the offense with 10 kills each. At the net, Klooster added another 7 blocks, while Marlow tallied 13 digs. Kurschner had a standout serving performance, recording 6 aces.
In the final match of the tournament, the Warriors wrapped up the weekend with a 3-set sweep over Indiana Northwest. Sydney Kidd led the team with 8 kills, while Emily Soukup and Peyton Klooster each notched 3 blocks. Marlow added 11 more digs to her total, and Rina Maiava contributed 2 aces.
The Warriors hit the road again this weekend, August 29–30, as they look to carry their momentum into the William Penn Tournament in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
