Volleyball drops home match to Dordt
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The Waldorf volleyball team finished their mini homestand with a GPAC meeting with Dordt Saturday afternoon. In three tough-fought sets, Dordt emerged victorious over the Warriors (25-19, 25-16, 28-26).
Dordt helped a 21-14 lead in the opening set. Waldorf ran off four straight points to tighten the score. Jalyn Hovenga added two kills in the stretch. Dordt won four of the final five points of the set to take a match lead.
Waldorf started on fire in the second set, taking an 8-2 edge. The Defenders would take over though the rest of the set. Trailing 11-8, Dordt rattled off 10 straight points on their way to taking a two sets to none lead.
The third set went overtime as neither team refused to let in. Waldorf faced multiple match points trailing 24-19. The Warriors scored six straight to have their own set point. Dordt recovered and won the set 28-26.
Kenzie Kidd led Waldorf with eight kills and nine digs. Rachel Watson had 12 assists and Reinya Balderson added 10.
Waldorf (7-6, 1-3 in GPAC) next plays at Northwestern Wednesday.
