Waldorf University hires Cliff Cook as Head D1 Hockey Coach
FOREST CITY, Iowa – Waldorf University is pleased to announce the hiring of Cliff Cook as Head D1 Hockey Coach. Cook has over 30 years of coaching experience between the high school, juniors, and collegiate levels. Most recently, he was the Associate Head Coach for the ACHA D1 men's hockey program at Drury University. In their first D1 season, the team qualified for the quarterfinals of the ACHA Tournament. He also served as Drury's Sports Information Director for non-NCAA sports for two years. Before that, he coached the Missouri State University ACHA D1 men's team as the Associate Head Coach.
Coach Cook spent 10 years coaching junior hockey teams, including the Missoula JR Bruins (NA3HL) as Head Coach and General Manager, Dallas Blackhawks Elite Tier I (NAPHL) as Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Development, Pikes Peak Miners Tier I (NAPHL) as Assistant Coach, New Mexico Renegades (WSHL) as Head Coach and General Manager, and Texas Brahmas (WSHL) as Assistant Coach. During his time with the New York Aviators (USPHL) as Associate Head Coach, the team was the USPHL Champion and USA Hockey National Runner-Ups. He also served as Associate Head Coach with the Marquette Royals (MnJHL) and helped coach them to MnJHL Bush Cup Champions and a USA Hockey Junior National participant.
"I'm grateful to President Alsop, AD Chad Gassman, Mike Heitkamp, and the selection committee for the opportunity to lead the Warriors D1 Hockey program," Coach Cook said. "It's been a long journey to get to this point in my career, and I look forward to this new chapter."
Director of Athletics, Chad Gassman said, "Coach Cook is an experienced hockey coach with many years of recruiting and coaching knowledge in the ACHA and juniors. I'm looking forward to him building off this past season's success."
Coach Cook begins his recruiting duties immediately.
