Warriors Battle with Illinois State University
BLOOMINGTON, IL - The Warriors lost a hard-fought battle to Illinois State University 3-2 on Friday night. The Warriors would get on the board first and take a one goal lead after one on a JJ Adams goal. Donovan Ascencio would add the lone assist. The two teams would battle in the second, leaving the second period tied at 1. Illinois State would score two unanswered goals until Geoff Dick would cut the lead in half. Assists would go to Preston Castaneda and Dominic Toews. The Warriors would be whistled for twelve penalties in the game. "If we play hockey, we're a pretty good team," stated Head Coach, Mike Heitkamp. "There were a lot of undisciplined penalties tonight that impacted the flow of the game. We are better than that." Matt Loney would stop 26 shots on 29 attempts in the loss. The two teams complete the series on Saturday, January 24 with the puck drop at 6:10pm.
