Waldorf University D1 Hockey Completes Sweep of Northern Illinois with Convincing Victory
ALBERT LEA, Minnesota. The Warriors completed the sweep of NIU Satirday afternoon with a 8-1 win. NIU would take a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission. However, the Warriors would go onto score 8 unanswered goals. The second period started with Zak Molstad scoring on a nice chip pass from Art Laurynavichus and Jaden Aguilera. The Warriors took the lead when Dom Toews scored his first goal of the night with assists to Devin Carney and Dylan Carlson. Molstad added to the lead with assists to Dom Toews and Kirill Konach. Toews would score his second of the day with assists to Molstad and Audun Caple. The Warriors would head into the second intermission with a 4-1 lead.
In the third period Cole Dermott would get the Warriors on the board with assists going to Towes and Matus Jonas. Peyton Inks would add another power play goal with assists going to Gunner Vignaroli and Molstad. Jacob Patterson would score his first collegiate goal with Carney and Cale Anderson adding assists. The final goal was scored by Cale Anderson on a tip from Liam Wallace, Preston Castaneda would add the secondary assist. Vaughn Holbeche would make 25-26 saves to secure the win. The Warriors improve their season record to 9-8-1 and will take on Mckendree University at 2pm to complete their series on Sunday afternoon.
