Warrior Drops Hard Fought Games to Hastings
FOREST CITY, IA - Waldorf Warriors narrowly outdone by Hastings in conference games on Friday. Waldorf dropped game one 8-7 and game two 12-2.
Game One:
In an intense conference game on April 4, 2025, the Waldorf University Warriors were narrowly defeated by Hastings with a final score of 8-7.
During this closely contested game, the Warriors showcased notable performances from several players. Noemi Tudon, Jenna Busch, and Haley Ehlert each contributed with single runs, while Alyssa Maldonado impressively scored twice. Paige Pierson and Kierra Lynn Schulz also contributed to the score tally, each bringing a run home. Furthermore, Busch, Ehlert, Pierson, and Schulz were pivotal in driving in runs, with Schulz delivering a game-high of three RBIs.
Adding excitement to the game, Haley Ehlert and Kierra Lynn Schulz each landed a homerun, displaying significant power at critical moments. However, the starting pitcher for Waldorf, Jaycee Plath, and the rest of the team faced tough competition from Hastings, who edged out the victory.
Ehlert's bomb to right field was her first career home run.
Ehlert went 2 for 4 with a home run.
Gabby Bierly went 2 for 3 with two singles.
Paige Pierson went 2 for 4.
Kierra Lynn Schulz went 2 for 3 with a home run, and 3 RBIs.
Game Two:
In game two against Hastings, the Warrior offense could not hang with the Broncos ending a 12-2 loss to end the day.
The Broncos held Waldorf to just 4 hits through the duration of the game. Two of those hits came from junior Alyssa Maldonado who had a single and double off the left field fence. Freshman Reagan Ridout was 1 for 1 with a single, and junior Dionne Lopez was also 1 for 1 with a single.
The Warriors will take on Mount Marty at home on Sunday, April 6th.
