Waldorf Drops Both to Dakota State
MADISON, SD - Waldorf drops two 7 inning battles to Dakota State University during a non-conference match up this past Tuesday. The Trojans took both games ending in scores of 7-3 and 11-8.
Game One:
Waldorf scored one in the top of the first. Reagan Ridout walked, followed by a Isabella Bencivenga single down the left field line. Gabby Bierly reached on a fielder's choice, and Jenna Busch doubled to left center field to drive in the run.
The Trojans responded with 3 of their own in the bottom of the first. Both teams were scoreless until the fifth inning. Dakota State put up two in the bottom of the fifth, and two more in the bottom of the 6th. The Warriors were able to cross one in both the 6th and 7th, though it would not be enough. Bierly doubled in the top of the 6th. This was followed by a Kenady Ridout RBI double to center field. In the top of the seventh, Bencivenga reached on error, Bierly singled, and Busch singled to drive in the final run.
Reagan Ridout took the loss in the circle. She gave up 7 earned runs on 10 hits, and 1 walk.
Game Two:
The Warriors took a 4 run lead in the top of the first. Dionne Lopez reached on error, Bierly walked, Busch singled to right field, and K. Ridout hit her second bomb of the season to bring in 3. The Trojans scored just one in the bottom of the first and second to bring the score to 4-2.
Waldorf scored another run in the top of the third. Bierly walked, Busch singled to right, and Mauldin singled to left center field.
Dakota State scored 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead 10-5, and then scored 1 more in the 5th.
The Warriors scored 3 more runs in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough to overcome to the damage already done.
Jenna Busch doubled off the right centerfield fence, K. Ridout singled through the left side, and Mauldin singled to left field. Jaycee Plath grounded out to bring in a run, and Ryann Eurich reached on error. Hailey Michalik singled to right field, and R. Ridout reached on a fielder's choice to bring in another.
Makenzie Cope took the loss in the circle giving up 8 earned runs on 10 hits and 3 walks.
The Warriors will be back in action on Friday, April 17th against Concordia at home. They will also host College of Saint Mary on Sunday for senior day.
