Waldorf Softball Goes 2-2 at Turf's Up Invitational
BRANSON, MO - Waldorf softball went 2-2 this past weekend at the Turf's Up Invitational in Branson, Missouri this past weekend. They lost game one of the weekend 10-1 to Oklahoma Wesleyan. They shortly bounced back for their first win of the season with a victory of 8-5 over Hannibal-LaGrange. On day two, they put another victory in the win column with a score of 10-9 over Sterling. They finished the weekend with a 13-3 loss to York University.
Game One:
Oklahoma Wesleyan would get on the board early scoring three runs in the first and two in the second. Waldorf would get one of their in the bottom of half the second inning. Freshman Avery Mauldin would start off the inning with an infield single. Senior Dionne Lopez then hit a double to to right field to put runners on second and third. Junior Ryann Eurich would hit a ground ball to the right side to score the only run of the game for the Warriors. OK Wesleyan put up 1 more run in the fourth, 2 in the sixth, and 2 in the seventh to extend the lead and eventual final score to 10-1.

Hailey Michalik: 1-2, 1 BB
Dionne Lopez: 1-3, 1 2B
Junior Makenzie Cope would take the loss with 5.0 innings pitched, 7 hits, 6 runs, and 6 walks.
Game Two:
The Warriors would take an early lead in game two against Hannibal LaGrange. Freshman Kylie Bates would reach on an error. Sophomore Reagan Ridout would walk, followed by a Gabby Bierly hit by pitch to load the bases. Junior Hailey Michalik would single to bring in one run. Freshman Sophia Asimakopoulos would then hit a sac fly to score another run. Hannibal would put up five of their own in the top of the second to take the lead 5-2. The Warriors would go scoreless until the bottom of the 6th inning. Savannah Lyford would start the inning with a single to center field. Dionne Lopez would single to left field, followed by a double off the center field wall from junior Jenna Busch. Sophomore Jaycee Plath would single through the left side to bring in another run. Bates singled to the left side, and Bierly would double to left field to bring the lead to 8-5.
Bates: 2-4
Bierly: 2-3, 1 RBI
Lyford: 2-4, 2 RBI
Busch: 2-3, 2 2B
Plath: 1-2, 1 RBI
Reagan Ridout would get the win in the circle for the Warriors first win of the season. She threw a full seven innings with 103 pitches, 6 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts.
Game Three:
Waldorf would take a marginal deficit early in the game giving up 6 runs in the second inning. Waldorf would come back with one run in the bottom of the third. Bates would reach on an infield single, R. Ridout would walk, and Bierly would single to center field to bring in Bates. Sterling would score two more runs in the top of the fourth to bring the lead to 8-1. The Warriors would get themselves back in the game by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Junior Isabella Bencivenga would double down the left field line to start the rally. R. Ridout singled to center field, Bierly walked, Michalik singled up the middle, and Busch walked. Plath would walk, and Dionne Lopez hit a bases clearing triple to right field to tie the game. Sterling would be held scoreless in the top of the 6th and Waldorf put two more on the board to take the lead for the first time 10-8. Four walks and a sacrifice fly would put the Warriors on top. Despite Sterling scoring one more in the 7th, the Warriors held onto the lead for their second win of the season.

Makenzie Cope picks up the win in relief throwing 50 pitches. She threw 3.1 innings giving up just one hit and one run.
Game Four:
Waldorf lost the last game of the weekend 13-3 against York. York took an early lead in the first scoring 1 run. Waldorf responded in the top of the second scoring 3 runs which would be their only runs of the game. Jenna Busch doubled to left center field to start the inning. Michalik walked, and Lyford doubled down the right field line to score one run. Eurich reached on an infield error, and a sacrifice bunt from Bates would move the runners. Lopez and Bierly both walked and to bring in another run.
York then put up 3 runs in the bottom of the second and another 9 runs in the bottom of the third to bring the score to 13-3. That deficit would be too large for the Warriors to overcome.
