MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – The Waldorf softball team was on the road for a non-conference doubleheader against Iowa Wesleyan. The Warriors lost both, 1-4 and 4-3.
The Tigers scored half of their runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.
Brooke Hickey (SO/Adel, IA) scored the only run for the Warriors in the top of the 3rd inning off a ground out RBI from Kassidy Elyea (JR/Sioux Falls, SD).
In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Tigers secured their win by adding two more runs to win 1-4.
For the second game, the Tigers scored their first run in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
McKenna Mentink (SR/Mason City, IA) got things rolling for the Warriors with an RBI single allowing Hickey to tie the game in the 3rd inning. Maddie Dalke (JR/Medford, OR) then got a two-run RBI double with Mentink and Kaela Eslinger going up 3-1.
In the bottom of the 3rd, the Tigers had back-to-back doubles to win the game 3-4.
Bre Bouse (SR/Russiaville, IN) pitched the first two innings and finished with one strikeout and Alyssa Oswald (JR/Wasilla, AK) pitched last four innings with three strikeouts and one walk.
Next up for the Warriors is a home weekend conference series against Mayville State. First game is tomorrow, April 7th starting at 2 p.m.
