Softball Drops All Four at the Midwest College Classic
SHAWNEE, KS - Waldorf Softball lost all four of their games at the Midwest College Classic in Shawnee, Kansas this past weekend. Game one was lost to #8 Central Methodist University with a score of 20-0. They lost game two of the weekend to Benedictine College 12-1. Game three against Mid-America Nazarene ended in a score of 5-1. Lastly, the Warriors would lose a seven inning battle to York with a score of 7-6.
Game One: Not a lot of action took place on the Warrior side of the field against Central Methodist. Waldorf came away with just two hits and one walk. Freshman Kylie Bates singled in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Reagan Ridout would also single through the left side, and freshman Mariah Bledsoe would gain the only walk of the game.
On the other side, Central Methodist scored 20 runs on 17 hits and 8 walks.
Jaycee Plath would take the loss in the circle.
Game Two: Game two against Benedictine took a better start than game one. The Warriors were able to hold the Ravens to just one run in the first two innings. After this, the score would be too much for the Warriors to handle. They attempted to make a comeback in the bottom of the fifth inning. Freshman Kenady Ridout would hit a pinch hit double to right center field. Junior Ryann Eurich would double to right center field hitting in the only run of the game for the Warriors. Kylie Bates singled to left, followed by a walk for Reagan Ridout. The game would end on a double play hit from Gabby Bierly.

Reagan Ridout would take the loss in the circle giving up 8 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks.
Game Three: Game three would result in a 5-1 loss to Mid-America Nazerene. Mid-America scored 4 of their five runs in the third inning on 6 hits. They would tally the final run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Waldorf would only score one run in the top of the fourth inning. R. Ridout singled to left field to start the inning. Bierly singled up the middle, and Jaycee Plath would hit a sac fly to deep right field. The Warriors finished the game with only 4 hits and 3 walks.

R. Ridout would take the loss in the circle giving up 5 runs on 12 hits.
Game Four: Game four was a hard fought battle against York University that ended in a 7-6 loss. The Warriors were ahead the duration of the game until the bottom of the 6th inning. The scoring started in the top of the second. Senior Dionne Lopez walked, followed by a walk by freshman Sophia Asimakopoulos. Sophomore Savannah Lyford singled, freshman Trinity Sepulveda reached on a fielder's choice hitting in one run, R. Ridout walked, and Bierly singled which would put the Warriors up 4-0.
The Panthers scored one of their own in the bottom of the third after back to back singles. Waldorf would get that run back in the top of the fourth. Reagan Ridout reached on error and advanced to second. Bierly would single through the right side to bring her in. Waldorf would also tack one more on in the top of the fifth. Lopez doubled down the left field line, Asimakopoulos singled up the middle, as did Lyford.
Up until this point redshirt sophomore Makenzie Cope had thrown a gem. She had only given up 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with 2 strikeouts. Sophomore Jaycee Plath came into relief in the bottom of the sixth. She would give up 3 earned runs on 2 hits and 2 walks to give up the lead and to earn the loss.
The Warriors will be back in action next week for six more games on the road over spring break. They take on Peru State for a double header on Thursday, March 5th. Then they travel to Wichita Kansas for the Friends University Invite March 6-7.
