Burko Selected as CAC Player of the Week
LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia – The Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) selected Waldorf sophomore midfielder Daniel Burko (Lovenstad, Norway/Lorenskog Videragaende Skole) as its Offensive Player of the Week.
Burko played a key part of the three straight wins from the Warriors this past week. Wednesday, August 31st, had an assist to teammate Antonio Coutinho. Friday, September 2nd, Burko had an assist to teammate Hanibal Abraha, and then scored an unassisted goal to tie the game in the second half against Presentation.
On Sunday, September 3rd, Burko scored two goals, one being a header from a corner kick, in a 4-3 victory over Morningside. In three matches, Burko had eight points, nine shots with six of them being on goal. "I am happy for what my team and I have achieved this week and we are now focused on this week and hoping for more success." Daniel Burko.
"Extremely happy for him and the team, and it comes as no surprise to anyone who's at training with him every day and sees his quality and commitment day in and day out," Head Coach Michael Ritterbeck said. "He is always working tirelessly to perfect his craft and get the absolute most out of himself, and this is a direct result of all the extra hours he puts in outside of training."
The Warriors are back home Wednesday, September 7th against St. Ambrose at 5pm.
