Warriors Receive Six Daktronics Scholar-Athletes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes on Thursday. The Warriors saw six athletes on the list, tying with Bellevue, Mayville State, and Valley City State in the NSAA conference.
Jordan Lukes (JR/Fort Atkinson, IA), Lindsay Field (JR/Eyota, MN), Lizzie Garza (JR/Brownsville, TX), Maddy Stott (JR/St. Charles, IA), Sandra Christian (JR/Gainesville, TX), and Taylor Moen (JR/Big Lake, MN) were named as Scholar-Athletes.
"Each year the NAIA honors the many high achieving student-athletes for each sport, and six of our players received an honor that they deserve," Head Coach Shawn Chaffin stated. "Our players take great pride in performing in the classroom ever day, and the performance of these six, as well as our entire team, and this honor is a reflection of their efforts!"
The 2023 list features 873 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
