Forest City, Iowa
The Waldorf Women's Basketball team returns to Forest City after a couple hardfought games on the road.
On Thursday, the Warriors traveled to Dubuque, Iowa where they faced Clarke University. The Warriors started the game well, jumping out to a 17-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, but a cold stretch in the second quarter helped Clarke tie the game by halftime. The score swung back and forth for the next quarter and a half before Clarke--lead by Zoe Kennedy's 34 points--pushed the lead up to 10 in the final minutes to end the game 73-63.
The Warriors were highlighted on Thursday by Cloey Dmytruk, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 24 points, and Freshman Jariah Riley who scored 13 with 6 rebounds.
Two days later, Saturday November 10th, the Warriors traveled to Lamoni, Iowa to take on the Graceland Yellowjackets.
The Warriors once again started the road game hot, shooting out to an 8-0 lead early. Rebounding however became the story of the game, as Graceland's 26 offensive rebounds and the extra possessions gained from them were enough to pull the Yellowjackets to a 75-62 win, despite the Warriors shooting better percentages from the field and from behind the 3 point line, and posting their lowest turnover game of the season.
The Warriors were led by Cloey Dmytruk (22 points, 12 rebounds), Charlotte Mills (19 Points) and Destiny Sao-Martinez (14 points, 7 rebounds).
Cloey Dmytruk ended the week averaging 23 points, 8.5 Rebounds, on 43% from 3 point range.
Waldorf Women's Basketball will be back in action this Saturday, November 15th for their first conference game. The Warriors travel to Seward, NE to take on Concordia at 3:00 PM.
