Waldorf Struggles from the Field in Loss to Northwestern (IA)
Forest City, Iowa
Waldorf hosted the Red Raiders of Northwestern (IA) on Wednesday evening. The Warriors kept it tight for much of the first quarter, only trailing by four points 5 minutes into the game, but a quick run to end the quarter gave the Red Raiders a 21-9 lead at the end of one. The second quarter started with several possessions of back and forth action, with the lead remaing around the 10 point mark. However, after a Jariah Riley made free throw with 4:05 left in the second quarter, the Warriors did not score again for the remainder of the half, allowing the Red Raiders to grow their lead to 22 points at the break. Waldorf played hard enough defensively for most of the first half to keep themselves in the game, but an uneasy stretch offensively still created a deficit. The Warriors found a little more offensive success in the second half, but the gap proved too much and the Red Raiders were able to pull off the win. The Warriors shot just 26.3% from the field and 13% from 3 point range in the loss.
Cloey Dmytruk scored 14 and grabbed 5 rebounds to lead the Warriors, Destiny Sao-Martinez scored 9 points. Jariah Riley added 8 points and 3 rebounds.
The Warriors will play their final game of the season at home on Saturday February 21st as they host #1 Dordt. Saturday will be the Warriors senior night, the team will honor Cloey Dmytruk and Paris Southern
