Handal Receives NSAA Player-of-the-Week Honors
BISMARK, North Dakota – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its sixth edition of football Players-of-the-Week honors Monday. Kasen Handal was named as the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.
"Kasen is a playmaker for us," Head Coach Will Finley said about Handal. "Plays with a motor and does anything you ask him."
Senior defensive back, Kasen Handal (Tomball, Texas/Sam Houston State) forced a fumble on a kick-off return to open the third quarter, recovered the fumble, and returned it for a 13-yard touchdown. Handal also had a sack on 4th and goal forcing a turnover on downs, four tackles and two broken up passes on defense.
"It was a great team win, especially after a tough game last week, we knew we needed to bounce back and come out swinging this week," Handal said. "All three phases were clicking, and it was great to get a win at home."
This is the third time Waldorf has received a Special Teams Player-of-the-Week; Tyler Dennis Week 2 and Morgan Dostal Week 3. Other honors have been Seth Oakes for offense Week 1, Deqwunn McCobb for defense Week 3, Jordan Cooper for offense and Tyler Dennis for defense on Week 4.
Next for the football team is an away conference game at Mayville State University, Saturday October 8th with a 1pm kickoff.
